Provides students with an overview of abortion practice in the United States and worldwide from a public health perspective. Enables students to critically evaluate current research, public health practice, and policy related to abortion, and to speak knowledgeably and accurately on these issues.
- Learning Objectives:

Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Describe trends in abortion incidence, the sociodemographic characteristics of women who have abortions, the provision of abortion, and health consequences.
- Analyze current abortion legislation and regulations in the United States and internationally and their impact on women’s health.
- Critically review research on abortion related health concerns.
