Description
1. To familiarize first-year genetic counseling students with the NIH/JHU thesis process and areas of research focus 2. To prepare first-year genetic counseling students to begin the thesis
Acquaints first-year genetic counseling students with the thesis proposal development process. Provides an overview of the ongoing research opportunities at Johns Hopkins and the National Institutes of Health. Familiarizes students with possible collaborators.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Identify research questions appropriate in scope and relevance to the genetic counseling profession
  2. Explain their research ideas to potential mentors and collaborators
  3. Apply what they have read in the genetic counseling literature to a logbook of research ideas
  4. Link different faculty members’ research portfolios to specific questions of importance to the genetic counseling profession
