Description
Introduces the basic principles and frameworks for research and public health ethics as well as concepts in professional and research integrity as a public health professional. Provides introductory material and case discussions on public health ethics and public health research ethics with emphasis on examples from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Distinguish the principles and frameworks of bioethics, public health ethics, and research ethics
  2. Articulate why and how ethics considerations for public health ethics are different from those usually given priority in medical ethics
  3. Apply the principles and frameworks of bioethics to real cases in public health practice and public health research
