Description
Are you reading about new analytic methods in papers, and not understanding why the authors use them? Interested in learning the relevance of methods that are being developed to epidemiologic research? New methods are being continuously developed in epidemiologic research. Understanding their function and the assumptions behind them are critical.
Provides a basis for understanding how new analytic methods are relevant to epidemiologic research. Explores methods in "plain English" in order to focus on utility of the methods as well as how to interpret analyses as they are applied to research. Addresses the assumption of the methods and big picture pros and cons.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Describe a subset of new analytical methods
  2. Describe why an investigator may want to use a particular method
  3. Interpret results of new methods, as applied to epidemiologic research
