Description
National Mental Health Policy is a hot topic today and the course addresses major unresolved national mental health policy issues that currently confront the United States.
Addresses major unresolved national mental health policy issues that currently confront the U.S. Acquaints students with the actual national mental health policy issues currently confronting this country and the key frameworks used to analyze them. Discusses and proposes feasible solutions for one of these issues. Debates and discusses the role of government, the provider community, consumers, family members, and members of the community at large. Reviews the policy process itself.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Identify the current major national mental health policy issues currently confronting the United States
  2. Construct an analysis of a mental health policy issue from causes to likely solutions and prognoses
  3. Describe key positions in a mental health policy debate, and strategies and tactics that can be used to move the issue toward a likely solution
