Combines didactic methods and group activities to explore the rapidly evolving topic of implementation as it pertains to public health research and practice. Provides an overview of the concepts, the theories, tools, and methods used to advance implementation research and practice. Presents key principles of implementation science from a multidisciplinary perspective and provides practical applications of those principles in both practice and research-based settings.
- Learning Objectives:
- Identify the relevant nomenclature and disciplines that contribute to implementation research and practice in order to develop future implementation projects.
- Apply key implementation science constructs and theories to public health problems.
- Distinguish implementation outcomes from efficacy, service, and client outcomes.
- Apply strategies for improving the adoption of evidence-based interventions in a variety of setting.
- Characterize different types of evidence in public health interventions and frameworks for evaluating evidence.
- Recognize and critically evaluate common study designs and methods for addressing implementation research aims.
- Develop an implementation research and practice grant proposal by applying concepts, theories, and methods in implementation science to public health problems.
- Methods of Assessment:
Evaluation based on informational interview and write up (22%), a second written assignment (22%), participation and attendance (16%), and a final written assignment (40%).
