Description
Covers the various provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in a systematic way, including the underlying objectives of its advocates, the critiques from its opponents, and the recent challenges with its implementation.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Describe the primary ways the ACA intends to expand coverage to the uninsured
  2. Explain the primary ways these new insurance subsidies are offset by taxes and reduced government spending
  3. Critique the ways the ACA intends to slow the overall growth in healthcare spending
  4. Analyze how the political system shaped the original legislation and its subsequent implementation
