Letter from the Director
Jimmie Lou DeBakey, Director of Constituent Relations
Happy New Year!
With the beginning of each new year, I like to think about my goals for the upcoming year and how to achieve them. At the very top of my list is helping connect you to one another and the School to make it a stronger place. In the coming months, our team will be hard at work creating more opportunities for you – our global network of superb public health workers - to connect, engage, share and give back.
We will help launch at least four new regional networks of the Global Alumni Network. Denver, Seattle, Geneva, and Lima (Peru) are in the start-up phase and working to get off the ground and running. We are increasing volunteer engagement, especially when it involves your interactions with current students and your departments and programs. We are also focused on creating thoughtful and engaging events to satisfy your intellectual curiosities while providing you outlets for networking.
Finally, I would be remiss if I did not mention the upcoming leadership transition. We will see our beloved Dean Klag step down after twelve very successful years at the helm. There will be opportunities to bid him farewell – along with chances for you to welcome a new dean later in 2017.
It’s going to be an exciting year and I for one can’t wait to see it unfold. If you have any feedback or suggestions on how to make it even greater, please write us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your continued commitment to our School and public health!
