In the recent weeks, many international applicants have been asking questions regarding the English Language Proficiency Policy. Here are some key points to remember.

  1. All TOEFL and IELTS scores must be valid. These tests expire two years after the test date.
  2. A master’s degree in the US does not qualify for an English Language Proficiency Waiver. The degree must be a completed four-year degree, such as a bachelor’s or doctoral degree.
  3. TOEFL scores should be submitted directly to SOPHAS using code 5688. Applicants with IELTS should e-mail a scanned copy of the score report to jhsph.admiss@jhu.edu
  4. English Language Waivers are very rare. Please plan to take the test prior to your program’s deadline as testing sites have limited exam dates, times and locations.

For the full policy, please review the International Applicants’ webpage.
