The annual APHA conference is always a lot of fun. It’s a chance to celebrate public health with colleagues across the nation and world. Last year’s conference in Atlanta also provided a bit of fun since Olympic Park is adjacent to the Georgia World Congress Center.

Since the 2018 APHA Meeting and Expo is in San Diego next week, I know many people will be taking advantage of the beautiful, sunny weather. However, make sure to stop by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s booth (numbers 630 and 632). Alumni, department representatives and faculty visit the booth throughout the conference. Taking a half hour or even five minutes to visit the booth can result in great networking and learning more about the many opportunities at the Bloomberg School.

The Admissions Services Office will also take part in the This is Public Health Fair on Wednesday, November 14 at San Diego State University School of Public Health from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Unfortunately, I failed in my campaign to help at APHA this year and create more photoshoot opportunities. Maybe in 2020 when APHA is in San Francisco I will!

I’m not sure how, but it is time for the American Public Health Association (APHA)’s annual conference again! Beginning Saturday, November 4 and continuing through Wednesday, November 8, this year’s conference is in Atlanta, Georgia and the theme is “Creating the Healthiest Nation: Climate Changes Health.”

Many of our faculty present research during APHA and you can find the schedule on this temporary page. Also be sure to stop by our booth during the expo; we are at location 132 and 134.

There will also be a This is Public Health Fair on Wednesday, November 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. Register online to attend. This is a great way to learn about many different public health programs from all over the county.

If you’re attending APHA, I hope to see you there! And if not, follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for updates from the conference.

JHSPH BoothHappy Halloween! The annual American Public Health Association (APHA) conference is underway. Once again it is falling over Halloween, so you know what that means, right? We have some sweet treats at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Booth (#114 and 116)! So stop by to talk to our faculty and staff and learn more about our programs.

The ASPPH This is Public Health Graduate School Fair is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, November 1.

If you aren’t attending the conference, but are in the Denver area, there is a Free Student Visit Day on November 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Also, you can see when our faculty are presenting by going to

Do you know all the words to “Sweet Home Chicago?”

Even if you don’t, if you’re thinking of following a career in public health, it’s a good time to think about Chicago.

The Annual Meeting for the American Public Health Association (APHA) will be held October 31-November 4 in Chicago, Illinois. The event expects more than 12,500 public health professionals to attend educational sessions, networking functions, a public health expo and more.

Students should be especially aware of:
