If you attended one of our recruiting events, you may have met this smiling face.
Let me officially introduce you to:
Director of Recruitment, Communication & Events
- What do you like about living in/near Baltimore?
I lived in Canton (in the city) for over six years and transitioned to the ‘burbs a year and a half ago – I love both places! For me, the best part about Baltimore is that it has big city resources/opportunities, while at the same time offering a small-town, community feel. It’s not too big, not too small – just perfect for me and my family! Plus, it’s centrally located so it’s easy to get to NYC, Philly and DC – or to the beach or to the mountains.
- Your favorite thing to do in Baltimore?
I’m a self-proclaimed foodie and LOVE to eat out (partly because I’m not that great of a cook, but that’s another story). Baltimore really has anything and everything you’d want to try – and it’s hard to keep up since so many new great restaurants continue to move into town! My two favorite weeks of the year are !
- Do you have a favorite Baltimore food/restaurant?
I can only pick one?!? Well, Mama’s on the Half Shell in Canton has to be at the top of my list. Crazy yummy crab dip, fresh squeezed orange crushes – and Sunday brunch is to die for (you must try the Grand Marnier French Toast – holy amazing! Side note: Blue Moon Cafe in Fells Point also has amazing breakfasts). I’m also going to sneak in close second picks, which would be Woodberry Kitchen near Hampton and Tapas Teatro by Penn Station. YUM-O!
- What do you like best about your job?
Public health is probably one of the most (if not the most) dynamic fields out there. As a recruiter, I get to meet the most amazing prospects from around the globe, who come from truly incredible backgrounds and really want to make an impact within their communities. It gives me great pleasure to connect such amazing people with our School so they can obtain the tools needed to go and change the world.
- How long have you been at Hopkins? (specifically, in Admissions Services)
It will be eight years in April with JHU, and just passed my six year mark this past August with JHSPH Admissions!
- Favorite color?
Brown. (I know that sounds ugly and depressing, but I always pick browns to wear, paint my walls, my nails….it has become a staple in my life, so I think it deserves the title.)
- Favorite sports team?
PENN STATE!!!!!!!!!!! My beloved alma mater – I cheer on anything Penn State related, but especially our football team. It’s certainly been a tough year, but we still are…Penn State!
I love a good book – just read “Room” by Emma Donoghue and it was a page turner! I also enjoy a good run, visiting with family and friends, and volunteering at local organizations.
- What did you have for lunch today?
Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup from a can. (I said SELF-PROCLAIMED foodie…)
- If you were to be locked all by yourself in E1002 for one week, with no electrical power, what is one thing you would bring with you?
My iPhone. My husband says I’m addicted and I’m afraid it’s true. I can check my email, look at my pictures, play Words With Friends, and maybe even a little online shopping. I know it wouldn’t last me past the first day, but it’d be worth it.
