Master of Applied Science in Spatial Analysis

Careers in Spatial Analysis

Spatial analysis is an emerging field with applications evolving that are vast and paramount, impacting public health at the local and global level. The carefully sequenced courses of the Master of Applied Science in Spatial Analysis for Public Health introduce and reinforce a unifying comprehensive spatial science paradigm, to include components of Spatial Data, GIS and Spatial Statistics.

Broadly speaking, there are various career paths—some are narrowly focused and others much more encompassing. The skills learned in this online degree program are valuable to both an established career and to those just entering the workforce. A sample of job titles appear below, but the application of the MAS in Spatial Analysis for Public Health may be used among other traditional public health careers, such as those in epidemiology, statistics, health policy, and others.

Tools to harness the power of both geography and health are used across US institutions such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as the World Health Organization (WHO), hospitals, health systems, managed care and public health agencies around the globe.
