Implementation Progress

Find new and compelling ways to show how the science and practice of public health impacts lives every day.

VISION

We are working to find new and compelling ways to show how the science and practice of public health impacts lives every day. Working with partners in the public and private sectors, we will develop and launch a communications initiative targeted at changing the perception of public health, with an emphasis on the importance of evidence, the value of prevention, and the power of collective action. We will work with alumni to help achieve this goal, partnering with them to help spark an appreciation for the value of public health in their local communities. To disseminate our message, we will work with journalists, offering training on public health issues and methods. If viable, we will establish a new center devoted to tracking and studying the impact of public health interventions on population health and cost savings.

Current Activities

  • Developing three-year plan to elevate the role of communications within and outside the School

Accomplishments

  • Hired Associate Dean for Communications and Marketing
  • Co-sponsored annual health journalism conference, providing opportunities for journalists to meet with faculty and visit the School
