Open Data for Baltimore Initiative

In partnership with the Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute (UHI)


The Open Data for Baltimore Initiative seeks to increase community access to data and analysis from the School of Public Health. The goal of the Initiative is to facilitate greater use of local information by individuals and organizations who are working to improve health in Baltimore.

This website will be updated as the Initiative moves forward.


Johns Hopkins faculty and staff regularly publish research relevant to Baltimore. In this section of the website, the Initiative will provide links to abstracts and publications of this research.

Courses and Materials

Some courses and course materials are available online for free. Courses are available through Coursera, an online educational platform that includes interactive forums to support community interaction among students, professors, and teaching assistants. Course materials including video lectures, readings, and assignments are available through OpenCourseWare.

The Initiative is exploring options to make Baltimore-related datasets created by the School of Public Health available for use by individuals and organizations. In the meantime, the City of Baltimore makes a number of datasets publicly available.
