FAQs
Below are answers to commonly asked questions, if there is anything we have not answered below, please contact us.
How do I send the branded invitation or thank you to my guests?
It’s easy. Just click on the Invitation Generator tool under Host a Dinner. Fill out the form, and it will automatically create a PDF you can save to your desktop or share instantly though your email. The same process goes for the thank you note.
How do I limit the number of guests who attend my dinner?
It’s entirely up to you to determine which friends (and how many) come to the dinner. If you’ve reached your preferred limit, simply notify our constituent relations team. If you haven’t already, one of our team members will mark your dinner status as “private” on the global map to ensure additional guests are unable to RSVP.
What qualifies as a Centennial Dinner?
If you’ve got people and a place to meet to talk about the JHSPH legacy, trends in public health, and ways to make the world healthier—then you’ve got a Centennial Dinner! It’s whatever you want it to be. Just be sure to register as a host.
What should I serve?
Whatever you’d like. Make your own dishes. Grab a recipe from a website. Invite your guests to bring their favorites to share. Or have the event at a restaurant—let the professionals do the cooking.
Who pays for the dinner?
Unfortunately, JHSPH is unable to provide any financial support for your dinner. You may cover the costs yourself, solicit sponsors, or invite your guests to chip in.
What if I don’t want to use the toolkit?
You don’t have to! The toolkit simply offers recommendations to help with planning—as well as a quick and easy invitation generator that allows you to create a beautiful, custom invite for your guests in seconds.
What if I don’t know anyone in my area, but want to attend an event?
Use the global dinner map to find a public event near you. Then, simply request an invitation by clicking on the pin. Don’t be shy. Hosts who’ve made their events public encourage new friends to attend.
I’m not able to host or attend, but I’d love to be involved.
No problem! There are many opportunities to get involved with the JHSPH global alumni network. Visit our website for more information.
