 | Tuesdays, 3:30PM - 5:20PM, Fourth Quarter, Every Year Location: TBD This course describes the epidemiology and prevention of diabetes, obesity, and associated complications. It discusses methodological issues associated with evaluating these in epidemiologic studies. It is designed to cover the global epidemics of diabetes and obesity, environmental and genetic risk factors, as well as interventions to improve diabetes outcomes and weight management. The course includes lectures from several expert faculty members in the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine. Target audience is 1st year MHS or PhD students primarily in Epidemiology, MPH students. Prerequisites: 340.601 or 340.608 After successful completion of this course, students will be able t 1) Describe the epidemiology and prevention of diabetes, obesity, and associated complications. 2) Discuss methodological issues associated with evaluating these in epidemiologic studies. 3) Apply methodological priniciples when implementing research studies or interpreting the scientific literature.
