Welch Center in JAMA This Week

Both Welch Center Core Faculty member Jeanne Clark, MD, MPH, and Core Faculty candidate Craig Pollack, MD, MHS, MA, have research that appeared in this week’s issue of JAMA (2011 Apr 27 20011; 305(16).

Dr. Clark is coauthor of the article “Effect of Vitamin E or Metformin for Treatment of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Children and Adolescents: The TONIC Randomized Controlled Trial.” The article reports the results of a randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, placebo-controlled clinical trial conducted at ten university clinical research centers.

Dr. Pollack is coauthor of “Accountable Care Organizations and Health Care Disparities,” a commentary that warns of certain unintended consequences that may attend Medicare’s mandate to develop Accountable Care Organizations and that points to various actions that could be taken to avoid or mitigate effects that may reinforce health care disparities.
