Welcome to the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology, and Clinical Research. Now in its 16th year, the Center represents a unique, multidisciplinary collaboration in clinical and population-based research across the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. The National Institutes of Health have recently recognized such collaboration as a key element of success for scientific discovery, as evidenced by its “Roadmap Initiative,” which strongly emphasizes the value of clinical research and training conducted in a multidisciplinary environment.
For 15 years exemplary patient-oriented research and the development of the next generation of scholars in clinical research have been the Center’s primary goals. On the pages of this site, you will find information about the Center’s academic model, the activities and accomplishments of Center’s faculty and trainees, and the exciting new initiatives now being undertaken to further the clinical research endeavor throughout the Johns Hopkins University. The years of development to create the Welch Center’s approach to collaborative research and training provide a cornerstone upon which to amplify these efforts, and we are looking forward to the challenge.
