He is director of the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center and Associate Professor of Health, Behavior and Society at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He holds joint appointments in Human Nutrition and in Medicine (GI) at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Cheskin founded the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center in 1990 and is known for his empathetic “bedside manner.” He is the principal investigator on several research grants and is a frequent contributor to research and popular articles on weight management.
is a physician trained in both clinical medicine and public health. He specializes in preventive medicine and obesity prevention and treatment. He is a board-certified preventive medicine specialist and serves on the staff of both the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center and the George Washington University Weight Management Program. Dr. Kahan serves on the Faculty of both the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services. He teaches several courses on obesity, nutrition, public health, health promotion, and health behavior change to medical students, graduate students, and undergraduate students. He has published 14 books in the fields of medicine, nutrition, and public health and has won several awards, including the 2010 Patients’ Choice Award.
is a Registered Dietitian, Exercise Counselor, and private practice consultant in the Baltimore-Washington area with a strong background in both nutrition and exercise physiology. She uses her strong interpersonal skills and her passion for healthy eating and physical activity to help others reach their health and fitness goals. Currently the lead dietitian at the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center at Johns Hopkins University, a wellness coach for over 150 corporate employees, and the go-to dietitian for Meadow Mill Athletic Club members in Baltimore, Maryland, Katrina enjoys guiding others towards healthier living through nutrition and exercise. Katrina has worked closely with Joy Bauer, MS, RD, CDN of the TODAY Show on nutrition research projects for television, Yahoo.com, SELF Magazine, and other publications. She has written recipes for Life and Style Magazine, has contributed to the Gastrointestinal Desk Reference (2010), and is working on a nutrition and exercise-focused research study at Johns Hopkins to improve the health of firefighters across Maryland. She also teaches nutrition at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and is a guest lecturer at Johns Hopkins University. Katrina obtained a B.S. in Kinesiological Science and Dance Performance from the University of Maryland, College Park, completed an M.S. in Human Nutrition from the University of Alabama, and her Dietetic Internship at the University of Maryland, College Park. She currently lives in Fells Point with her husband, Daniel, and enjoys running, biking, swimming, weight training, cooking, traveling, drawing, and blogging about nutrition and exercise-related topics.
earned a master's degree and is completing a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Bowling Green State University, with specialization in Behavioral Medicine. Prior to joining the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center, Ms. Frutchey worked in a variety of settings, including a community mental health clinic, university counseling center, and several rehabilitation hospitals. She has helped individuals change their behavior and improve their lives as part of smoking cessation, weight management, and chronic disease management programs. Ms. Frutchey’s general approach towards working with clients emphasizes hope, compassion, and mutual respect. She believes that therapy is collaborative, as ultimately the power to change rests within the client. Her clinical and research interests include mood disorders, chronic illness, pain management, and weight management. | |
