Fellowship Programs

Urban Health Institute Fellows
The goal of the UHI Postdoctoral Research Fellowship program is to promote future leaders in the field of urban health. The fellows, each working in tandem with a Hopkins faculty member, carry out scholarly research and publication on such issues as crime, unemployment, poverty, substance abuse, diabetes, hypertension and other chronic diseases.

The C. Sylvia and Eddie C. Brown Community Health Scholarship
The C. Sylvia and Eddie C. Brown Community Health Scholarship is designed to train doctoral students who are committed to eliminating health disparities in Baltimore. The scholarship provides for tuition, stipend and funds to pilot a community-based research study.

Kellogg Community Health Scholars
Funded by the Kellogg Foundation, the program is designed to meet the growing needs of health professional schools, with emphasis on schools of public health, for faculty with community competency. CHSP is a post-doctoral program that enables scholars to develop and enhance their skills in working with communities and engaging in community-based "participatory" research.

The Baltimore Albert Schweitzer Fellows Program
As a way of fostering Dr. Albert Schweitzer’s legacy of service for the underserved, the Baltimore Albert Schweitzer Fellows Program (BSFP) provides service opportunities and support for students in health and human service graduate schools who seek to help underserved people currently in the Baltimore community. Since 1999, the BSFP has provided more than 70 Baltimore-area graduate students the opportunity to carry out health-related community service projects. This is a yearlong fellowship program open to all local students enrolled in a degree program in health and human service fields, including schools of medicine, nursing, public health, dentistry, pharmacy, social work and law, as well as such disciplines as health care administration and counseling psychology.
