(EBDI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization charged with leading and managing a $1.8 billion revitalization of an 88-acre portion of East Baltimore. (HEBCAC) is a nonprofit partnership, based in the community, established to enhance the quality of life for all who live, work and visit Historic East Baltimore. HEBCAC was founded in October of 1994 as the result of a two-year planning process that included neighborhood associations, business owners, Johns Hopkins Medical Institution representatives and government officials. (CURE) is comprised of a group of faith leaders and clergy who pledge to work together to lead people to better health services that are sensitive to the community’s needs. (formerly known as St. Michael Outreach Center) is a bilingual program of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore that provides culturally competent and linguistically specific domestic violence prevention and crisis intervention services to Spanish-speaking immigrant families. has a mission to provide food, clothing and shelter to disadvantaged persons in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Agape has programs for both children and adults, including a full-service food pantry, weekly feedings, adult small group sessions, long-term adult housing, computer lab and chapel services. is committed to assisting urban youth to become healthy and productive adults. Together with its community partners, the Center conducts research that identifies the needs and strengths of young people and tests programs designed to promote their health and well-being. brings together academic institutions, city and state agencies and organizations, community groups, schools, youth groups, and faith organizations to collaborate on both positive youth development and the prevention of violence. has several program areas—farming, eating and living for our future—and within each, they are engaged in three principal activities: research, educational outreach and community action. All of their work is driven by the concept that diet, health, food production, the environment, population and equity are all elements of a single complex system. emphasizes the value of service with others, rather than the commonly accepted concept of service to others. The volunteer and client enter into an educational process of interaction and reciprocal learning. This relationship is the common ground for all of their initiatives. Through its programs and efforts, the Center is striving to create a better community in and around the Johns Hopkins campus. is a part of the Johns Hopkins Community Physicians and is located at 1000 East Eager Street in East Baltimore. focuses on developing a set of results and indicators that measure progress towards improved outcomes for children and families, developing strategies that have the strongest potential to improve those outcomes, and establishing data mechanisms to collect baseline and ongoing data to track the impact of the strategies and to inform citywide and community-level planning and decision-making. (GOSV) creates, promotes and supports volunteer service efforts that engage all Marylanders to strengthen our communities. Through the combined efforts of traditional volunteerism and National Service programming, the GOSV provides solutions to Maryland's most pressing needs in the areas of education, public safety, health, the environment and homeland security.
(MICA) Founded in 1826, MICA is the oldest fully accredited, degree-granting college of art in the country. (SOURCE) serves as a channel for student, faculty, and staff involvement with community organizations and local projects. The Center has a particular, but not exclusive focus on East Baltimore neighborhoods in close proximity to the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions campus. seeks to identify environmental exposures and susceptibility factors, the nexus of gene-environment interactions that alone or together increase health risk for people living in urban environments, and then to use these findings to develop prevention and intervention strategies to improve public health. is deeply committed to improving health and wellness in Baltimore area communities by providing safe, high quality, accessible and affordable health care. provides short-term social services to Hispanics and other immigrants in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area.
