Baltimore Research Day: Over the last 25 years, a great deal of important research has been conducted in Baltimore. The inaugural Urban Health Institute’s Baltimore Research Day will showcase and explore the impact of this research on the health status of Baltimoreans and health policies in Baltimore. The co-chairs of this event, Dr. Bernard Guyer (Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health) and Dr. Joshua Sharfstein (Commissioner of Health, Baltimore City) invite students, faculty, independent researchers, and community groups throughout Baltimore to participate and submit abstracts. A policy impact award will be presented at the event. Click here to read the call for abstracts; and here to download the Baltimore Research Day Program and Abstract Booklet. The Johns Hopkins Institute for Spirituality and Medicine presents its 58th Institute: Violence and the Challenge of Healing in Our Communities. The Institute will give attendees information about violence and peacemaking as well as concrete, practical interventions and programs with proven success. Speakers will share conceptual frameworks and personal experiences of violence and healing in our communities. The Institute also will provide an opportunity for networking and moving forward efforts in Baltimore and elsewhere in Maryland. Click here to view the agenda. Faith Community - Johns Hopkins Leadership Forum UHI and Clergy United for Revitalization of East Baltimore (CURE) co-sponsor Baltimore Faith Community-Johns Hopkins Leadership Forums on a bi-annual basis. The objective of these dialogues is to re-establish and strengthen bridges between the Johns Hopkins Institutions and the faith community in Baltimore. This next forum will be held at Zion Baptist Church at 1700 N Caroline Street and will focus on after school programming and the prevention of youth violence.
