Tuition and Fees Tropical Medicine and Public Health Institute participants may register for academic credit or non-credit; for either credit or non-credit, a certificate of participation is awarded upon course completion. Courses taken on a non-credit basis may not be retroactively converted to academic credit after the conclusion of the Institute. Where academic credit leading to a degree is desired, students are required to pay the standard School tuition of $892* per credit (USD, subject to change) for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Each course module is worth four credits.
If a student enrolls in all four modules of the Tropical Medicine Summer Institute, their full-time tuition rate would be charged at the 12-credit rate or $10,704* (USD, subject to change). This rate does not apply to students taking courses for non-credit. The non-credit tuition rate is $1,500 per module ($375 per credit), totalling $6,000 for the entire Institute. Tuition does not include room and board. Students are not required to purchase any textbooks for any of the four courses of this Institute. Instead, a course fee of $30 per course will be charged to each student for materials, which include printed and electronic copies of all reading materials and class lectures. This fee is applied to for-credit and non-credit students alike. Students registered as "special students limited" may accumulate a maximum of 16 credits total during the Summer term. After 16 credits have been earned, application to and acceptance in "special student regular" or degree status are required. *Note: Academic credit tuition subject to change at the discretion of the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
