Food Distribution and Transport

Lesson Summary

Students will explore the rationale for transporting food over long distances. They will map the distribution routes of feed, animals and food ingredients in the manufacture of beef and strawberry yogurt, then calculate the resulting energy and climate impacts. They will critically examine the strengths and limitations of local and regional food systems.
