What type of financial aid is available through the Financial Aid Office?

This office administers federal loan and work study programs and certifies applications for private loans. An overview of the programs is available at http://www.jhsph.edu/student_affairs/financial/overview/. Academic departments and programs administer institutional grant programs (see http://www.jhsph.edu/student_affairs/financial/institutional_scholarships/).

Who is eligible for a Federal Student Loan?

A loan recipient must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, enroll at least half-time (6 credits) in a degree program, and not be in default on a prior student loan. Please visit http://www.jhsph.edu/student_affairs/financial/overview/ for a complete list of eligibility criteria.

How do I apply for Federal Student Aid?

To receive consideration for federal student aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit the Public Health Federal Student Aid Application. Application information is available at http://www.jhsph.edu/student_affairs/financial/application_procedures/.

What is the school’s Federal code?

The federal code for the School of Public Health is E00234. Use this code on the FAFSA.

When should I apply for financial aid?

Applications for financial aid are processed on a rolling basis. We recommend that new students who want to apply for federal aid submit the FAFSA and Public Health Federal Student Aid Application by March 15 and that returning students file these forms by May 1. Additional details are available at http://www.jhsph.edu/student_affairs/financial/filing_dates/.

How does an international applicant find out about scholarships, grants, and loans?

The Department or Program that authorizes a student's acceptance into a degree program determines eligibility for institutional aid. International applicants may research funding opportunities through International Student Resources.
