The main foci of this course include basic formats and expectations, cultural and linguistic sensitivity, correct source usage to avoid plagiarism, documentation styles and application, global and local writing issues, common grammar issues and other relevant issues in academic communication in English. If time permits, writing an outline for a short oral presentation or an abstract of one’s paper/article may be incorporated. The course is offered as one course over 1st and 2nd terms as well as 3rd and 4th terms, on Saturdays and Sundays. During each class meeting, a morning lecture will be followed by an application activity in the afternoon.
This is a non-credit Pass/Fail course but requires regular attendance and completion of assignments. All students must officially register in the course.
