SOURCE provides academic, professional and personal development opportunities for the members of the JHU Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health through community outreach and service-learning partnerships with community-based organizations. SOURCE was founded by the three Schools on the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions campus - Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health - in January 2005 to create one centralized, interdisciplinary community service and service-learning center. The center was formed in order to coordinate the community engagement activities of the three Schools while reducing unnecessary duplication of effort and services. SOURCE serves as a recognizable clearinghouse for requests from community agencies for involvement activities and as a focal point for students seeking exposure in an urban environment. SOURCE is also available to expand resources for faculty interested in service-learning and community-based interdisciplinary research, education, and practice. SOURCE is located in 2017 E. Monument St., Baltimore, MD 21205. This is a rowhome on the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions campus. SOURCE occupies the 2nd floor of the rowhome. 2017 E. Monument St. is located 1/2 block from the JHSPH Wolfe St. building and the SOM PCTB building, closer to the NE Market (just before The Taste of China). SOURCE is viewed as a vital component of Student Affairs in all 3 Schools - Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health. Students are encouraged to utilize our services in order to gain practical experience in their field of study. Such experiences are key elements of students' resumes or CVs. More information regarding career goals and resume enhancement can be obtained through the Professional Development Office (all 3 Schools), Career Resource Center (SON only), and Career Services (JHSPH only).
