On Sat, September 24, 2011, SOURCE will host the Fall Tri-School (Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health) Day of Service Part of President’s Day of Service! A variety of one-time community service projects are listed below.
Co-sponsors include: InterAction Council (SOM), Student Government Association (SON), & Student Assembly's Community Affairs Committee (JHSPH) Most projects require no special skills or advance knowledge. Simply bring yourself and your willingness to contribute. Most sites are in walking distance. Transportation will be provided for sites outside of walking distance. To Sign Up: Email source@jhsph.edu with your name, email, phone number, and top 3 choices. Projects will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. This Day of Service is a part of President’s Day of Service! Students, faculty and staff are welcome to participate in all activities!. 9:00 am- 1:00 pm Reach out to help local residents in need! Volunteers will assist in meal preparation & service.
9:00 am-1:00 pm Get our neighborhoods green! Volunteers will repair rain gardens, mulch & plant in preparation for autumn.
9:00 am- 12:00 pm Help church grounds stay vibrant & verdant! Volunteers will assist in landscaping & urban gardening on church grounds.
9:15 am- 12:00 pm Beautify Shepherd’s entryway for incoming patients! Volunteers will work to divide & plant shrubs & flowers on clinic grounds.
9:30 am- 1:30 pm Pitch in for local students! Volunteers will help Tench Tilghman by organizing storage closets, including labeling & filing of books and education materials.
10:00 am- 2:00 pm Promote HIV awareness & testing! Volunteers will provide outreach for the HIV testing mobile unit, encouraging local residents to get tested.
