Adult Learning Services Baltimore Reads Adult Learning Services uses the Portable Classroom© curriculum to allow teachers to transport BRI programs to city neighborhoods. These classrooms are full-service learning programs focused on assisting adults in reaching their academic and employment goals. These programs include: • ESL (English as a Second Language) Classes • Reading Classes • GED Prep Classes • Employment Readiness Classes are Monday – Thursday mornings, afternoons, and evenings as well as Saturday mornings and evenings located all over Baltimore City. Book Bank The Baltimore Reads Book Bank has provided more than 1,000,000 new and gently used children’s books to disadvantaged families in Baltimore since 1992. The Book Bank provides free books to children, families, and schools to foster and develop an intergenerational love for reading and lifelong learning. Annually, we host Books for Kids Day. At this event the Book Bank collects thousands of donated books from donors all over Maryland. Our Book Bank continues to welcome K-12 teachers who are in need of reading material to enhance the classroom experience for their students.
Volunteers are needed to sort, sticker, and shelve new or gently uised children's books for teachers and nonprofits in the Baltimore area. At the Book Bank Baltimore Sun Building 501 N. Calvert Street Baltimore MD 21202
