Function of Organization/Site:

Offers a hospitality center that provides a safe haven for homeless women and their children during the day.

Involvement Opportunities:

Meal Service
Everyday, including weekends, My Sister's Place provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner for women and kids at the shelter. Volunteers are needed for each meal shift to assist with meal prep, food service, and clean up. The volunteer shifts are as follows:
Breakfast: 7am-9am, 5-7 volunteers needed
Lunch: 10:45am-1pm, 10 volunteers needed
Dinner: 4:30pm-6pm, 5-7 volunteers needed

Interested volunteers should contact the Volunteer Coordinator in advance to be added to the volunteer schedule. For those interested in meal service, volunteer orientation is held every Saturday from 3-3:30pm at the shelter. If volunteering in a group, at least one person from the group should attend an orientation prior to the group's scheduled day of service. Workshop Facilitation
Volunteers are wanted in order to facilitate workshops and various classes. Possible workshop topics include health and nutrition, career development, salsa dancing, arts and crafts, etc. Presenters are expected to create and teach their workshop. The dates and times are flexible. Interested volunteers should contact Amy Panoni (apanoni@cc-md.org) for an application and more information.
