Function of Organization/ Site:

MEDBANK of Maryland, Inc. is dedicated to providing access to prescription medications to Maryland’s low-income, chronically ill, uninsured and underinsured population.  MEDBANK also assists healthcare providers and their patients in obtaining life saving prescription medications.

MEDBANK is an innovative, dynamic organization; always striving to improve the process, to improve efficiency, to reduce costs, to help more patients.

• Custom designed – state of the art database, RxBridge™, houses pharmaceutical company information, applications, and patient and physician information.
• Diverse network of partners around the state are linked by high speed internet access to RxBridge™ for rapid processing of patients.
• The patient prescription qualifier eMedBridge™ complements RxBridge™ or will stand alone as a tool to help patients make the best choice for prescription assistance.
• Central Fill Pharmacy – The MEDBANK Pharmacy, Inc. improves upon the traditional application process, getting medications to patients faster.

Volunteer Opportunities:

• Patient follow-ups by phone
• Note receipt of prescriptions, in order to process renewals of drugs

• Data entry
• Collecting drug information
• Utilize their computer system for daily needs follow-ups
• Research opportunities
• Outreach: Train students to give talks out in the community (to docs, faith-based orgs, clinics)
• Grant writing
• Data analysis projects
• Learning about how to run a non-profit
• Health policy work
• Advocacy:  Join exec director during the 90 day legislative session in Annapolis
(Must sign confidentiality forms for everything that volunteers see, touch, hear at the site)
