Function of Organization/Mission:

Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. (BARCS), is a non-profit organization created in 2004. We work in conjunction with the Baltimore City Bureau of Animal Control. Together our mission is to protect animals from neglect, abuse and exploitation, to advocate their interests and welfare, and to inspire awareness and compassion for all living things.

Hours of Operation:

Mon - Fri (12:30 pm - 6 pm)
Sat & Sun (11 am - 4 pm)

Volunteer Opportunities:

Dog Walking
Cat Socialization
Assisting potential adopters
Staffing booths at community events
Office Work

Volunteer requirements:
Volunteers MUST have their own health insurance and are required to have a current tetanus vaccination. BARCS can provide tetanus vaccinations free of charge on Wednesdays and must be arranged no later than 12 noon on the Monday before. Volunteers MUST attend a one hour general orientation and additional hours if you would like to work with dogs (4 additional
hours) and cats (2 additional hours).

The following orientations will take place at 11:30 am (Nov 8, Nov 15, Nov 22, and Nov 29)
The following orientations will take place at 3 pm (Nov 10, and Nov 20)
