MAY and JUNE 2004:  ONE-TIME OPPORTUNITIES

Operation Moral Support - Complete any time before Monday, May 17th
Send a letter of moral support to an American soldier overseas!  Thousands of men and women have been away from home for a long time and many of them are lonely and feel distanced from the rest of us.  This is a great opportunity to let them know that we have not forgotten them!  For those of you too busy with finals to sit down and write a letter (understandable!), two letters have already been prepared that you can simply print and sign!  Feel free to add some of your experiences to the letter or write one on your own.  Drop off letters in the box on the InterAction bulletin board (in the breezeway, outside the Student Lounge) or bring them to SASS (E1002 for InterAction).
Sample Letter #1 and  Sample Letter #2 are Word documents. Email Bevan at bkirley@jhsph.edu for questions.

Students for Organ Donation – new student organization forming
Students for Organ Donation seeks to promote organ donation, awareness and registration among students, staff, and members of the Hopkins community. Their long-term goal is to help bridge the chasm between the current supply and demand for tissues in organ transplantation. Currently, Students for Organ Donation has 22 chapters at college campuses around the nation.  As a part of their organizational infrastructure, they have allocated two executive positions for students at the School of Public Health and the Medical School. These are Director of External Affairs, JHSPH, and Director of External Affairs, the Johns Hopkins Medical School. Both positions were created to allow Students for Organ Donation to promote its message and activities beyond the Homewood campus in a collaborative framework via InterAction and the East Baltimore campuses. An informal electronic application/information sheet, due preferably before June 1st,  has been attached to help designate officers. Visit www.studentdonor.org to learn more about Students for Organ Donation, and how you can play a key role at Hopkins in alleviating the tissue shortage. The main activities, including a donor drive, will begin next semester. If you are interested in receiving additional literature on Students for Organ Donation, including brochures, a donor pin, and a video, please contact Hari.Prabhakar@jhu.edu or 410-516-5865
