SUBJECT:     Annual Paul A. Harper Award

GENERAL STATEMENT

            Students, colleagues and friends of Dr. Paul A. Harper, the first chair of what is now the Department of Population Dynamics, established, at the time of his retirement, a fund for an annual award to a student of the Department of Population Dynamics whose academic performance was judged to be outstanding.

POLICY

            Full-time degree candidates in the Department of Population Dynamics who have passed the Departmental comprehensive examination are eligible.  The award is made to recognize both past achievement and promise of future contributions to the field of population.

PROCEDURE

            The chair of the Department of Population Dynamics shall appoint a committee to consider and recommend nominations for the award which shall be determined by vote of the faculty of the Department.  The award will be conferred annually and the awardee's name appropriately listed in the Convocation program.
