POLICY AND PROCEDURE MEMORANDUM ADMINISTRATION AND GOVERNANCE - 7

SUBJECT:     Student Assembly Student and Staff Recognition Award

GENERAL STATEMENT

This award is the only honor given by the Student Body to acknowledge the special contributions of non-faculty individuals.  It offers the Student Body the opportunity for peer evaluation of the contributions of other students and also a means for expressing the gratitude of students for extraordinary contributions of staff.

POLICY

This award shall be given to one student and one staff member (defined as an employee of The Johns Hopkins University, exclusive of faculty and fellows, who provide service to students of the Bloomberg School of Public Health) who by virtue of their dedication and selflessness have made a significant contribution to the students and have improved the experience of those at the School of Public Health.

PROCEDURE

Any student and staff member of the Bloomberg School of Public Health is eligible to receive the award.

Every year, the Student Assembly will solicit nominations for both student and staff recipients of the award from the Student Body.  The recipients will be chosen from the list of nominees by a secret vote among the Student Assembly members.

The awards shall be presented at the Convocation of the Bloomberg School of Public Health by the President of the Student Assembly.  The awardees shall also have their names inscribed on the Award Plaque in the Student Lounge.
