SUBJECT: Frederik B. Bang Award for Student Research
POLICY
This annual award has been
established to recognize students from any department in the Bloomberg School
of Public Health who have passed their preliminary oral examinations and are
engaged in doctoral research in a topic relevant to pathobiology.
PROCEDURE
The acceptable range of such topics
shall be broad. The awardee(s) should
be conducting research either at the Bloomberg School of Public Health or at
the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
Each awardee shall present a seminar
in the department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology on the results of
the research supported by the Frederik B. Bang Research Fund.
The selection committee for the
Award will consist of four faculty members of the rank of assistant professor
or above in the Bloomberg School of Public Health appointed by the chair of the
department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology. Selection will be based on the scientific
merits of proposals.
The selection shall be made each
spring in time for the name(s) of the awardee(s) to be announced at the
Bloomberg School of Public Health Convocation ceremonies.
The income derived from the Frederik
B. Bang Research Fund will be used to support the student research.
