DAVID J. ROTHKOPF is the president and CEO of Garten Rothkopf, a Washington, D.C. and New York City-based international advisory firm that focuses on transformational trends worldwide, notably those associated with emerging markets and alternative energy. Previously, he was chair and CEO of Intellibridge Corporation, a provider of international analysis and open source intelligence to the U.S. national security community, a role he assumed immediately following his tenure as managing director of Kissinger Associates, the consulting firm founded and chaired by former U.S. Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger. Prior to joining Kissinger Associates, he served as deputy under secretary of commerce for international trade. Mr. Rothkopf has also served as chairman, chief executive officer, and founder of International Media Partners, publishers of CEO magazine and Emerging Markets newspapers. He is a frequent commentator in major media worldwide on global affairs and is the author of over 150 articles on international economic, security and political issues, and he is the author, co-author, or editor of a half dozen books on international topics. Mr. Rothkopf is a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace where, in addition to chairing the Carnegie Economic Strategy Roundtable, he has written Running the World, a behind-the-scenes history of how foreign policy is made in the White House, and most recently, Superclass: the Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making. Mr. Rothkopf is a member of the Chairman’s Advisory Council of the U.S. Institute of Peace, a fellow of the Truman National Security Project, and he serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Global Development. He is an adjunct professor of international affairs at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
