Health Advisory BoardPeter Bain

PETER L. BAIN is senior executive vice president of Legg Mason, Inc. and head of Institutional and Wealth Management. He came to Legg Mason in June 2000 from Berkshire Capital Securities, LLC, a privately held investment banking firm specializing in the investment management industry, where he was a principal owner and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Before Berkshire, Mr. Bain was vice president in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department at Merrill Lynch & Co., specializing in financial institutions. He started his business career as a strategic planning officer with the Hong Kong Bank Group, in connection with the award of a Henry Luce Foundation Scholarship in 1986. Before receiving the Luce Scholarship, he worked as an attorney with the New York law firm of Baer Marks & Upham.

Mr. Bain received a bachelor of arts in American Studies from Trinity College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated with honors in General Scholarship. He received his juris doctor degree from Harvard Law School. Mr. Bain is a member of the Board of Trustees and chair of the Master Planning Committee of the Walters Art Museum. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Charles Street Development Corporation, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Maryland and The Center Club.
