Healthy Steps National Evaluation Funding and Support

Healthy Steps has been supported and funded by The Commonwealth Fund, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and scores of other local funders and health care providers across the nation. The Boston University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics developed the Health Steps curriculum and training materials. Healthy Steps is co-sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

For the first three years, the Healthy Steps National Evaluation was carried out with grants from over 60 national and local funders led by The Commonwealth Fund. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality as well as The Commonwealth Fund continue to support the national evaluation as children reach 5 1/2 years of age. The diversity of program and evaluation sponsors reflects their recognition of the program’s potential to change pediatric practice and improve children’s lives and their commitment to a rigorous evaluation of the program’s effectiveness in this regard. A significant number of additional funders are supporting new Healthy Steps sites and continuation of the program at existing sites. We thank:
