Dr. Felicia Hill-Briggs Speaks at Congressional Black Caucus

Felicia Hill-Briggs, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine/GIM and Core Faculty member of the Welch Center, spoke at the 43rd Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation on September 20, 2013, in Washington, DC. She was an invited panelist for an Issue Forum on Health Disparities, sponsored by Representative Elijah Cummings of the 7th Congressional District of Maryland.

The purpose of the forum was to raise awareness of the major health issues affecting the African American community and to determine what practical tools are needed and what systematic actions must be taken to ensure a healthier and stronger community.  The expert panel addressed diseases including prostate and breast cancer, sickle cell disease, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and mental and emotional health.
