An interview with the Welch Center’s Associate Professor Liz Selvin, PhD, MPH, is now available as a podcast. Dr. Selvin was interviewed about the research findings reported in the article published in the December 2012 issue of the journal Clinical Chemistry titled “Associations of Alternative Markers of Glycemia with Hemoglobin A1c and Fasting Glucose” Dr. Selvin is the senior author of the article, and her trainee Stephen Juraschek is one of the two co-authors.
In the study, the investigators found that some markers other than hemoglobin A1c and fasting glucose may be helpful in measuring glycemia. They suggest further research to examine these additional markers in situations where the standard measurements are invalid or unavailable.
