Welch Center trainee Yingjie Weng has been chosen as the third recipient of the Nancy Fink Scholarship and Service Award. The award was established to honor the memory of Nancy Fink, MA, MPH, a beloved faculty member of the Welch Center and a Senior Scientist in the Department of Epidemiology and jointly in the Department of Medicine, who passed away in 2010. Friends and colleagues of Nancy Fink have generously endowed the scholarship in her name to allot a prize of $3,500 annually.
Yingjie is mentored by Welch Center Core faculty member Dr. Jessica Yeh as she studies for her MHS degree in epidemiology. She has special interests in the epidemiology of cancer and cardiovascular diseases, epidemiological methods and data analysis. Yingjie earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Fudan University in China in 2012.
Yingjie will be presented with the Nancy Fink Scholarship and Service Award at the Honors and Awards Ceremony at the Bloomberg School of Public Health in May. In addition, there will be a celebration of her award at the Welch Center.
