First ALS Walk a Success for New Team

Members of the Welch Center family joined the “Hopkins GIM Family and Friends” team at the Walk to Defeat ALS held at Arundel Mills Mall last Sunday, September 25th. The team’s honoree, GIM Division Chief Dr. Fred Brancati, was there as inspiration for a team that numbered some 50 walkers young and old, faculty, staff and trainees. The team raised over $22,000 for ALS research—more than twice their goal of $10,000—and was named the event’s top Family Rookie Team, a distinction that won them a coveted Golden Shoe Award!

Many thanks to Dr. Jeanne Clark and to Dr. Geetanjali Chander for organizing the team and to all those who walked on Sunday and who contributed to the fund-raising. The team's debut was a smashing success!
