The Welch Center's Felicia Hill-Briggs, PhD, is the subject of an article in the February 2011 issue of Diabetes Forecast magazine, published by the American Diabetes Association. The article by Kelly Toves titled "Catalyst for Change" focuses on Dr. Hill-Briggs's volunteer work in teaching diabetes management--on both the local and national level. The profile mentions both her recent chairing of the ADA's Council on Behavioral Medicine and Psychology and the workshops she has led in Baltimore area churches. The article details how Dr. Hill-Briggs's own diagnosis with type 1 diabetes as a child and the poor education in managing the disease she experienced at that time led to her career aim to "help people manage chronic disease, no matter the obstacles."
Kudos to Dr. Hill-Briggs for her significant volunteer contributions to diabetes education!
