Sharon Turban, MD Awarded AHA Grant to Study Potassium Intake in Patients with CKD

Welch Center trainee Sharon Turban, MD, MHS, has been awarded the American Heart Association Scientist Development Grant. The grant is specifically awarded to “highly promising beginning scientists” and is intended to offer support to investigators as they bridge the gap from training to faculty-status researchers. Dr. Turban’s project, entitled “Potassium Intake in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease,” will begin this July.

The Welch Center’s Dr. Lawrence Appel is Dr. Turban’s mentor. In addition to her training at the Welch Center, Dr. Turban is a KL2 Clinical Research Scholar and an Instructor in Nephrology. Congratulations to Dr. Turban on this important award!
