Needs Assessment/Evaulation

This component of the MCI has as its core functions: a) to better understand and document the concerns, issues and needs of military children and to place those needs within school contexts; b) to understand the similarities and differences between military children and other populations of highly mobile young people so as to apply lessons learned from one group to another, thereby benefiting military children and their families; c) to evaluate the impact of promising interventions that enhance school connectedness at the classroom, school, district, parent, and/or community level.

Researchers are currently undertaking a qualitative needs assessment with military students, military parents, school personnel and installation personnel.  This project inlcudes focus groups with the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, and National Guard.  Researchers are currently transcribing the data and will begin analysis subsequently.  Reports produced with the data will be posted on the Resources page of this site.
