WORKSHOP SERIES IN STATISTICAL MODELING WITH MPLUS:
BASIC, INTERMEDIATE, AND ADVANCED TECHNIQUES

A series of short courses on statistical modeling with Mplus will be held at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The host for the short courses is the Center for Prevention and Early Intervention in the Department of Mental Health. The series begins with an introduction to Mplus and latent variable modeling and culminates with two days of advanced modeling techniques using new features in the upcoming Mplus, Version 7. Participants may choose to register for some or all of the workshop days. An outline of the week's schedule is provided below.

* Note: In-depth treatments of each of these topics sets could easily take a week or more of time. Thus, participants should expect each of these 1/2-day short courses to provide more of an overview and survey of these modeling techniques that will lay the foundation for future learning and mastery of the techniques.

COURSE INFORMATION

Location:
The location for all the workshops in the series will be Sheldon Hall, which is on the first floor of the Bloomberg School of Public Health building at 615 N. Wolfe Street. Participants will need to enter the School of Public Health building via the Monument Street entrance which is located between Wolfe and Washington Streets.

Daily schedule:
Each workshop is either a half day (8:30am-12pm or 1:30pm-5pm) or whole day (8:30am-5pm), with the following daily schedule:

Materials:

  • Course material will be presented in English.
  • Handouts for each workshop will be provided to all registered participants.
  • Computers are not necessary.

Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites for the series beyond strong command of multiple regression. However, each course in the series will assume that you have taken or already familiar with the material covered in the preceding short courses, e.g., Workshop 2 on the morning of Day 2 presumes you have taken or have knowledge of the topics covered during Workshop 1.
