ICTR - Biostatistics Center

The Biostatistics Center for Clinical and Translational Research provides consultations to faculty on biostatistics issues related to the effective collection and interpretation of health information, including:

  • Designing research studies
  • Sample size and power calculations
  • Designing data collection systems and instruments

Data Informatics Services Core (DISC)

The Data Informatics Services Core (DISC) is a division within the Johns Hopkins Biostatistics Center that consists of a team of data managers and programmer analysts who support collaborators within the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. They work closely with the researchers to understand their data support.  Then using their extensive data management and programming experience, they strive to provide the best advice and solutions for collecting and managing the research data.  The services they provide include:

  • REDCap training, support, and programming
  • Data management and related programming
  • Review of database design and data collection instruments
  • Development of custom data collection systems
  • ICTR consultation on data management
In addition to developing custom data collection systems, they also offer REDCap hosting and support on our secure servers. REDCap is a secure, web-based application developed at Vanderbilt University to support data capture for research studies. It allows non-technical users to rapidly develop data entry forms and manage their data. DISC is an active REDCap consortium member and can provide complete support for a research project in REDCap.

Wilmer Biostatistics Core

The misson of the Wilmer Biostatistics Consulting Center is to provide biostatistical expertise in support of ophthalmologic research performed at the Wilmer Eye Institute. The biostatistics center is a core grant-funded entity within the Dana Center that provides biostatistical and other research related support to Wilmer faculty.
