The Center for Public Health and Human Rights (CPHHR) works to advance understanding of the critical links between health and human rights.
Our mission is bringing the tools of public health research to fulfill the rights of the world’s most disadvantaged people to health and human dignity.
Based in the school's Department of Epidemiology, we investigate the impact of human rights abrogations on the health of populations and develop rights-based approaches to public health challenges. We endeavor to bring the tools of population-based sciences to bear on complex health and rights interactions. And we brings human rights law to bear on some of the great challenges to human dignity and public health, from exclusion of marginalized people from services to the protection of health workers in war to the prevention of torture.

Asylum Medicine Training Initiative
Dr. Cuneo is one of three co-leads for a national curriculum to train clinicians to conduct forensic medical evaluations for individuals seeking humanitarian protection.

The International AIDS Society–Lancet Commission on Health and Human Rights examines the state of health and human rights and provides recommendations to revitalize the global commitment to protect the fundamental human rights of all people.
Connecting housing and health
The Center began working closely with Point Source Youth to support their interventions across the US focused on decreasing housing insecurity and homelessness among youth using rent-support incentives.
