Program in Human Nutrition faculty member awarded 2015 Department of International Health Faculty Innovation Fund grant

Amanda Palmer, an Assistant Scientist in the Program in Human Nutrition, was one of two recipients of the 2015 Deparment of International Health Faculty Innovation Fund grant for her proposal "Public health relevance of single nucleotide polymorphisms in the β-carotene oxygenase-1 enzyme".

Each year, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health awards nearly $200,000 in grants to its junior faculty to assist them with the development of research programs. The goal of the Department of International Health Faculty Innovation Fund is to stimulate innovative research that will strengthen Department faculty members' abilities to compete for extramural funding. The Faculty Innovation Fund grants are used to support research endeavors with technical assistance, research equipment or salary. The grant selection process is extremely competitive. Applications are reviewed by a departmental committee and only the top-ranked proposals are chosen for funding.
